Some people in this situation turn to what are known as “payday lenders”.  These are businesses that usually loan small amounts of money over a short period of time. The problem is, it’s usually with high fees and interest rates attached. It is possible, when you take some of the fees and penalties into account, that interest rates can sometimes top 800%.

So what do you do if your children need a laptop for school work or your fridge stops working?

One option is to use our RentPlus program where you lease or rent the item for a set period of time. And then you may be offered the opportunity to own the goods after your contract is finished. Direct Appliance Rentals is committed to helping low-income families and customers that receive Government benefits. We understand you may not have the necessary funds to buy essential household products outright. Rather than borrowing money to meet existing commitments, call us and discuss your situation. How can you pay for your household appliances? We offer a few easy payment options:

• Direct debit
• Credit card
• Bank account
• Centrepay: a voluntary bill-paying service that is free for Centrelink customers. Use Centrepay to arrange regular Deductions from your Centrelink payment. You can start or change a Deduction at any time. The quickest way to do it is through your Centrelink account online.

If you do not receive a Government benefit, we can set-up a Direct Debit. Your payments are then automatically deducted from your credit card or bank account fortnightly directly to us.
